The 3 Most-Watched Sporting Events in the United States in 2022

The National Football League (NFL) is the most popular sports league in the United States. The top 10 most-viewed sporting events in 2022 were all NFL games. Below are the three games that attracted the most viewers:


1. Super Bowl 56 - Broadcast on NBC, Super Bowl 56 featured a showdown between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals. More than 99 million people tuned in to see the Rams beat the Bengals 23-20. Rams receiver Cooper Kupp caught a one-yard touchdown pass to win the game with 1:25 left in the fourth quarter. The halftime show featured performances from Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige.


2. NFC Championship - The NFC Championship on FOX, held two weeks before the Super Bowl, attracted 50.23 million viewers. The Rams punched their ticket to the Super Bowl by defeating the San Francisco 49ers 20-17.


3. AFC Championship - In the other conference championship, the Bengals beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 in overtime to win the AFC and advance to the Super Bowl. More than 47 million people watched the game on CBS.
